Mick Kidd

"Slidin', Stompin', Acoustic Blues"

Based in the Adelaide Hills, Mick has been part of the local scene for over 25 years, doing his own distinctive style of "Slidin' Stompin" Acoustic Blues. Apart from being a hard worker, he's got some serious credibility- as a multiple award winner in the “FOOM” (Festival of Original Music) competition held annually by S.C.A.L.A. (Songwriters, Composers & Lyricists Assoc.)- also being the lead guitarist for both the Adelaide & Darwin Symphony Orchestra’s ” Pink Floyd Tribute” events in 2008 & 2016. Mick has also teamed up with harmonica maestro David Blight on a semi-regular basis with Dave performing on Mick's latest C.D. "Winter Sun" –reaching the top 10 of the national blues charts in 2014. Mick & David were also successful at the 2014 “South Australian Blues Awards”-winning both the “Outstanding Solo/Duo” as well as Mick with the ”Outstanding Male Performer” categories. This has been followed up in 2015 winning the inaugural Adelaide Roots & Blues Assoc.- “Memphis Blues Challenge” ( solo/duo)-representing South Aust. on the world stage in Memphis U.S.A. in Jan. 2016.Together Mick & Dave reached the quarter finals after performing 3 nights at the iconic Jerry Lee Lewis Cafe & Honky Tonk “12 Bar” on Beale Street. With festival appearances in South Aust. & Victoria before the end of 2016, Mick is looking forward to releasing another all original C.D. (again featuring Dave) in the early part of next year!

"The Man is a fine guitarist & songwriter"- LUC MEERT- Rootsville, Belgium

“MICK KIDD is a solid acoustic guitar player & songwriter with feeling & charm. I enjoyed the discourse & stories he weaved, both lyrically & musically"- STEVE JONES- Crossroads Blues Society, Rockford, Illinois, U.S.A.

"What is primarily on show here is the exemplary guitar playing, but in the context of supporting not dominating the songs-anyone who enjoys some blues guitar will find much to like"- ADRIAN MILLER-S.C.A.L.A. - Adelaide, South Australia.

Harmonica legend (and Christmas Pageant float designer) Dave Blight, known mostly for his work with Cold Chisel, performed with Mick Kidd with a kick ass blues set that included Robert Leroy Johnson and Steve Winwood covers. Both masters of their craft, they let loose with a wall of thunderous blues that set the place on fire. Posted by Darren Hassan on Jul 14th, 2015 Glamadelaide Review
